Rainfall Intensity Values

The Rainfall Intensity Values charts were developed by the SCDOT that are based on the Technical Paper 40 maps to aid in calculating intensity values for the 5, 10, 25, 50, and 100 year storms. Values are listed for 28 cities in South Carolina. Use the values that most represent the rainfall pattern at your specific site.

SCDHEC Approved Rainfall Data

SCDHEC has promulgated two ways of determining the 24 Hour Storm Event for South Carolina. One is in Appendix F of the 2005 BMP Handbook. This appendix is attached in the pdf document below. The other method is using NOAA’s Hydrometeorological Design Studies Center. This method requires the Longitude and Latitude of the project. Both of these methods are acceptable to SCDHEC.
